ICAAR Gives Back to Families in Need

This year, ICAAR proudly partnered with United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties in their annual Holiday Adopt-A-Family program. Seven local brokerages participated in the initiative, bringing some extra special holiday magic to families in need within the community.

Each participating brokerage was paired with a family from United Way’s program. The brokerages shopped for personalized gifts for each family member and then gathered individually for their festive gift-wrapping days.

Once the gifts were wrapped and ready, ICAAR members brought them to trusted referring partners such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and Coralville Food Pantry. These organizations, directly connected with the families, ensured that all gifts were delivered safely and on time to the paired families.

“The staff at United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties would like to extend our gratitude for ICAAR’s generous sponsorship in our holiday Adopt-A-Family program this year,” said Amy Schaefer, a Project Coordinator at United Way. “Their support has brought so much joy to families this holiday season, reminding them that their community truly cares. We truly value our partnership with ICAAR.”

The Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS® looks forward to continuing in this impactful program for many years to come, strengthening the bonds within the community, and ensuring that everyone experiences the joy of the season. Sarah Miller, ICAAR’s Community Outreach Chair, said it best: “The best gift in being a REALTOR® is the ability to give back to our community and help make it a little brighter.”
