When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the Iowa City area, much of the community was balancing on uncertainty. But the first thoughts of Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS were, how can we help? And just like that, Project Feeding the Frontlines was underway.
Spearheaded by the Association’s Young Professionals Network and Public Relations Committee, our group of volunteers decided to give back to the frontline workers of our community’s nursing homes and assisted care facilities.
Rallying donations from brokerages within our Association, the committees pledged to match any funds up to $2,500. Together, ICAAR raised $7,455 to provide hot meals to the frontline workers. We were able to deliver meals to over 15 facilities within our service area. When there were remaining funds, we delivered cookies to local police and fire stations.
