Helping Derecho Storm Victims

Helping Derecho Storm Victims

On August 10th, a disastrous derecho storm caused a great amount of damage to eastern Iowa. Many homes were damaged, people were left without power for weeks, and communities were shut down for cleanup. With our community in such need, Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS reached out to organizations to help get these communities on their feet again.

Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS donated $2,500 to the United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties. United Way helped families and individuals who were facing losses due to the storm by providing a 24/7, free hotline.

We also donated $2,500 to the Iowa Giving Crew. The Iowa Giving Crew used their donations to help eastern Iowans get food, shelter, and help cover cleanup expenses.

Additionally, our Young Professionals Network donated $2,500 to Iowa Storm Help. Iowa Storm Help provided ample amounts of resources for the communities affected by the derecho, including contractors, veterinarians, hotels, and much more.

Iowa City Area Association of REALTORS would like to say thank you to all the organizations that helped our surrounding communities during this difficult time. Without all the support, our communities would not be where they are today!
