2023 ICAAR Brings Home the Holidays Was a Great Success

2023’s ICAAR Brings Home the Holidays project matched up 10 Iowa City Area brokerages with 11 local families in need that were nominated by our community. These selected families filled out Holiday gift wish lists for the brokerages to shop for each family member. Brokerages coordinated up front with their families to set Early December dates to deliver Holiday Décor and grocery gift cards provided by ICAAR. In addition to receiving gifts, this part of the project allows families to experience the Holidays in a more all-encompassing way. The gift cards provide families the ability to enjoy holiday meals together. Families opt to receive holiday ornaments along with either a wreath or a tree, depending on what best suits their living space.

Between décor delivery week and gift delivery week are about two weeks of time for brokerages to shop and wrap gifts for their families. Each brokerage does this in its own way–some assign a team of people and they rally together to shop in-person at places like the Coralville Mall. Others assign one or two people to do all of their shopping online. Regardless of the approach, these agents love searching out gift ideas and wrapping presents together. Once the week of December 18th hit, it was full-speed ahead as brokerages got to play Santa and deliver all gifts to the families with which they were matched. Gift delivery week is a favorite of most agents involved, as it is so exciting know that these families will have gifts to share with their loved ones during the Holiday season.
